Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer well-known for his distinctive blend of soul gospel jazz R&B as well as R&B. She has performed on Broadway as well as during the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta however, she comes out of Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing and playing piano in the church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical instruction began with Atlanta's R&B Scene. In 2005, she became the drummer in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to be the choral leader for the stage production. Sunshine came to national interest during four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
